Investigative Units
Child Abuse
The Blair County District Attorney's Office works closely with law enforcement, Child, Youth & Families, as well as the Child Advocacy Center to vigorously prosecute cases of child sexual and physical abuse. Our primary goal is to protect the safety and welfare of the child, while seeking justice for victims and their families. Blair County's Multi Disciplinary Investigatory Team (MDIT) includes members from the District Attorney's Office, Child, Youth & Families, Family Services, the Child Advocacy Center, law enforcement, and medical personnel. Blair County's MDIT facilitates collaboration in the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases as well as serving the interests of victims and their families.
CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER
The Center for Child Justice is Blair County's Children's Advocacy Center (CAC), located in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The Center provides a child-friendly, neutral place for the forensic interview and forensic medical evaluation of child victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Use of a CAC reduces trauma to child victims by minimizing duplication of interviews and examinations, and improves the ability of investigators to uncover facts and evidence. The CAC model is an internationally recognized, evidence-based practice. For further information see the link provided below:

Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a serious social problem that cuts across all cultural, economic, racial and gender divisions. It is our philosophy that domestic violence is a crime against society (not a private family matter) and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The domestic violence unit is comprised not only of prosecutors, but also victim advocates who assist victims through the court process.
The domestic violence unit is responsible of the prosecution of cases involving current or former sexual or intimate partners who engage in criminal conduct of a threatening, intimidating, or physically violent nature. We prosecute all felonies and misdemeanors involving domestic violence including homicides, physical assaults, sexual assaults, stalking, burglaries, trespass, and offenses relating to violation of orders of protection.
The prosecutors assigned to domestic violence cases have specialized training and expertise in prosecuting these cases and are committed to handling them with discretion and compassion for victims.
